The Eighth Gift of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

The Eighth Gift: His Joy

From the Sacred Heart of Jesus
flows the gift of joy—
not a fleeting feeling,
but a deep and lasting light.

“I have told you this,” He says,
“so that my joy may be in you,
and that your joy may be full” (John 15:11).
This is the joy of being loved,
and of remaining in His love.

It is the joy of the lost being found (Luke 15:7),
the broken made whole,
the sinner forgiven,
and the disciple sent.

Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit (Luke 10:21),
and invites us into the joy of heaven—
a joy that endures sorrow,
and shines even in the dark.

This joy is born of union with Him,
grown in gratitude,
nourished by truth,
and shared in service (Philippians 4:4).

Let us receive His joy,
and carry it into the world—
for in His Sacred Heart
dwells a joy no one can take away (John 16:22).
