Mass Timings
Sacred Heart Church primarily caters to the spiritual needs of the Anglo-Indian families of Madurai, irrespective of their place of residence. Our Mass timings are thoughtfully designed to provide various options for worship, fostering a sense of inclusivity and convenience for our parishioners and devotees of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Regular liturgical services on Sundays and Feast days continue to be held in Tamil and English.

Agapa
Agapa is a community-driven initiative at our church, fostering fellowship and hospitality. Every Friday, following the 11 AM mass, we extend a warm invitation to all pilgrims for “Uravin Virunthu,” a gathering that embodies the spirit of togetherness and sharing. It’s a cherished tradition where members and visitors come together to enjoy a meal, strengthen bonds, and experience the warmth of our faith community. I feel very honoured to have links with the beautiful Sacred Heart Church, Madurai. I visited in 2008, 2017, and again in 2019, but my wife Lorna’s family have been associated with Sacred Heart church for a much longer time. Lorna received her First Holy Communion in 1971 at Sacred Heart Church and her parents, James and Daphne Mullins were married there in 1962. Many of the family’s relatives are interred at the cemetery opposite Railway Colony and to this day, her brother Tommy Mullins, his wife, Bethann and their two sons Dion and Dylan attend Sacred Heart Church every week.
I also have the privilege of having been included on the WhatsApp group for many years now. The daily posts, prayers, honour of Saints’
Days and the beautiful music videos encourage me every single day. It’s a truly blessed group!
